മുച്ചിലോട്ട് ഭഗവതിMuchilottu Bhagavathi

ഉത്തര മലബാറിലെ ഏറ്റവും ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന തെയ്യക്കോലങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് മുച്ചിലോട്ട് ഭഗവതി.

Muchilottu Bhagavathi is among the most revered theyyam deities of North Malabar. The tradition remembers a learned young woman of Perinchellur who, wrongly accused and cast out, entered the fire and was received as a goddess. She has been worshipped since in the muchilottu kavus across the old Kolathunadu.

The Eramam kavu stands near Payyanur in Kannur district. Its kaliyattam is held once in many years. Between those years the kavu keeps its daily order of worship, and the families of the desam keep the vessels, the ornaments and the thottam songs ready for the next one.
